So it's October and autumn is officially here. Since I'm one of those summer-loving people it's very important for me to be surrounded by positive people to not get depressed. I guess most of you think I'm exaggerating, but I'm really not. Waking up when it's dark and coming home when it's dark, the cold temperatures, the shitty weather... it wears me out. I put on layer after layer after layer of clothes, mittens AND a warm jacket but I still freeze. The fact that autumn/winter lasts for about six months here doesn't really make it any better.
However, I do live in Sweden and no matter how much I'd just like to skip autumn and go straight to spring, I have to try and make the best out of it. To keep me happy and motivated during this period of the year, I write lists of everything that I find enjoyable about this season. For all of you who are just like me, these fall related things are actually quite lovely:
• Knitted sweaters
• Boots
• Reading books
• Watching movies
• Apple picking
• Pretty colors
• The fresh air
• Scented candles
• Sitting in front of a fireplace
• Halloween (even though I don't celebrate it)
• "Fika" with friends (fika = tea/coffee with cookies, muffins etc.)
• Warm chocolate
• Cosy blankets
Hopefully this will help all of you people who, just like me, feel a bit sad when this season arrives. I must admit that it's hard, but I try to focus on the good stuff because complaining won't do me or anyone in my surroundings any good, nor will it change anything.
I also have a collection of photos and quotes in my phone to keep me inspired and my mood on top. Whenever I feel a bit sad, I look through them and it reminds me of how beautiful life really is. It always puts a smile on my face :)
Pictures from summer, part 1. All of these are from Italy and they were taken at the beach (obviously, haha). Will be posting more pictures in a few days of the city and la familia :)
Okay, so I don't really believe in that quote, but sometimes shopping can make me so damn happy! Now that I actually put thought into every outfit I wear and every item I purchase, it is much more fun to shop (and much more expensive..). Last year I had one jacket and one pair of shoes for each season because I simply didn't care much at all, but know I can't even imagine going out in jeans and just some random t-shirt. Fashion is so much fun! It's like I'm discovering a whole new world, haha. So now that I actually do put thoughts behind my outfits, I think I might start showing you some of the stuff I buy and what I wear during the weeks so I guess that this is now a fashion, photography and inspirational blog :)
Okay, so back to fashion! Lately I've been having a thing for nail polish and jewelry. I've always liked nail polish because it can do so much for you, a bright and matching color on your nails can really lift a whole outfit (especially if you wear much black). My favorite colors this fall are red, second to black and some kind of bronzy/metallic color which I need to buy asap!
My second obsession this fall is jewelry. I'm not a jewelry girl at all and I've never been one to wear rings, necklaces and bracelets. But lately I've been loving all these long necklaces with owls, keys, crosses and triangles. Definitely going out for some necklace shopping soon!
Last but not least... studs! I freakin' LOVE studs, both on shoes and clothes. Shit, it looks so fucking good. I'm currently looking for a pair of studded boots to wear this fall/winter and I will definitely be updating my wardrobe with lots of studded shirts and sweaters as well. LOVE.
Ash boots that costs around €300 so I will have to look for look-alikes instead.
So it's really hard and awkward to have a photo shoot with yourself, and I don't really have the time to edit the pictures tonight so this is all you get from today's little photo session. I think I'll ask a couple of friends if they want to "model" for me, that way it'll be easier for me to take good pictures and it'll be fun with photos of someone other than me. Because trust me, I don't like being in front of the camera.
I was thinking that maybe I could post a few pictures from summer since I haven't posted anything at all, but I have a million pics and I need to go through them first so I'll probably post some this weekend :)
I truly believe that no matter how you look - short, tall, thin, fat, blonde, brunette - all you need is confidence. You gotta learn to like yourself before other people can like you. So make sure that the first thing you put on in the morning is your smile. Positivity and confidence is the key.
Every day is a fashion show and the world is your runway.
So always dress your best and walk with confidence.
Hello to whoever is still reading my extremely boring and failed blog! When I started this thing I really thought I would be updating every other day with a lot of pictures but that obviously wasn't case. Still, here I am with yet another entry. I like blogging, it's just that I write a lot of entries and save them as drafts but then I end up forgetting about them and then it's too late to post them so I just delete them.
I am very busy with school and other stuff at the moment but I'm gonna try and take the time to post an entry at least once a week. I love fashion and inspirational stuff (like quotes and pictures) so that's mainly what I will blog about. Of course there will be some stuff from my own life as well, but the majority of all entries will not be about what I've done during the day. If you feel like that's something for you, you're more then welcome to stick around :)
So where is Emma in life and what is she doing? Well, I'm back in school and I'm actually kind of enjoying it so that's nice. Other than that, I feel like I've come to a point in my life where I'm quite happy with what I have. I think I've learned to appreciate the little things and take time off for myself, just to be. I've found a balance between school, training, friends and studying. It feels like I've found a new version of myself that is all happy and positive. It's great!
So basically this was just an entry to give a little update on how I will blog in the future (not very interesting). I will be posting some inspirational stuff later today. I hope you all have a lovely Sunday!
This is a music post where I will rec some... hmm... music without lyrics?
What some of you might not know about me is that I love classical music and instrumental music. Mozart, Grieg, Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi... I'm a big fan! But I also love movie scores.
One of my favorite movies is the Peter Pan movie from 2003. Not only is it one of my favorite movies, but it also has some of my favorite music. The track Flying by James Newton Howard is just amazing. It's so full off energy and it always brings me up. I love listening to it, it makes me happy.
James Newton Howard - Flying (Peter Pan)
James Newton Howard - Fairy Dance (Peter Pan)
Other scores he made: King Kong, I Am Legend, The Hunger Games.
Another of my favorite movies, the French movie Les Choristes, does contain lyrics but the music is too beautiful not to post. Listen to it even if you don't understand French, because the music is just beautiful and if it weren't for the fact that I don't believe in heaven and all that, I would guess that it's an angel's voice singing the solo's (it's a little boy!).
Les Choristes - Ave Maria (listen to those voices... crazy!)
65daysofstatic is a band that I know absolutely nothing about that does instrumental music. I just happened to discover one of their songs and I liked it (except for the ending).
65daysofstatic - Drove Through Ghosts To Get Here
Another one of those bands that I know nothing about is Explosions in the Sky. They make some great instrumental music and I discovered them a couple of years ago. Warning: the songs are really long, like 10 minutes. So listen to them before going to bed or something, when you have the time.
Explosions in the Sky - The Only Moment We Were Alone
Explosions in the Sky - Six Days At The Bottom Of The Ocean
Explosions in the Sky - First Breath After Coma
Now some classical music! My favorite is a song by Edvard Grieg that I think most have heard, however, there doesn't seem to be a lot of people who have heard of Edvard. Anyway, he's a Norwegian composer and the song below is ah-mazing. Close your eyes, relax and listen.
Edvard Grieg - Morning (Peer Gynt)
I'm too lazy to write about every composer so I'll just post the rest of my favorite classical songs.
Antonio Vivaldi - Spring 1st Mvt. (The Four Seasons)
Peter Tchaikovsky - Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy (The Nutcracker)
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Rondo Alla Turca (The Turkish March)
AntonÃn Dvo řák - New World Symphony No. 9
I'm going to Italy later this afternoon so I have to go get ready. I won't update the blog if there's no Wi-Fi, so if I don't find any, see you in three weeks :)
I just came home with these pretties from the mall :)
I've been looking for shorts with some lace or crochet stuff for quite some time know so it was love at first sight when I saw these. Perfect for the beach or a day in town = the perfect summer shorts!
Tell me something about yourself that most people don't know about you: I'm really into fashion. You may not notice just by looking at my style but I love clothes. I love lace and vintage, platform shoes, Jeffrey Campbell, bright colors, all things crochet, studs, nail polish, hats, transparent shirts... yeah, the list goes on and on.
Elle Fanning and Lana Del Rey are two of my big inspirations. Elle is so young but I love her style, it's amazing how well dressed she is. And Lana... well, I love the lyrics and sound of her music. It inspires me a lot. AND HER MUSIC VIDEOS. So different and so good. Love them.
Summertime Sadness.
Carmen.
Blue Jeans (watch it).
Next on my "to-buy-before-I-go-to-Italy" list:
- Platform converse (ordered, but haven't got them yet)
- Red heart shaped sunglasses
- A hat
- New bikinis
- Black shorts with studs
- Something with feathers, not sure what though. Haha.
I've also been thinking that maybe I should start posting some of my outfits on here. It'll be fun to look back on next year. Maybe it'll be fun for you as well since I've kind of run out of ideas for this blog. I read quite a lot and go to to cinema every other day but I'm not very good at writing reviews so that is out of the question, haha. Maybe some music posts or some inspirational posts (quotes and pictures)? :) Comments and ideas are very appreciated!
We're already half way through March. March, April, May, June... Only about three months left before summer! I'm starting to get really excited. I've got so many plans. Lazy days out at the lake, spending time with friends in the sun, late summer nights in town, eating ice cream, going to the cinema, taking the bike when you want to go somewhere, family trips... and summer clothes! I'm not a very girly girl and I usually don't wear dresses and a lot of pink but I've started to get really interested in pretty vintage dresses and shoes. Haha. I can't wait to go summer shopping!
This year I will also try to get a summer job. As of right now, I don't really want to work during summer but it's only for two or three weeks and it'll feel good to earn some money and not only take from my parents. It'll be a good experience :) Right now, I have to focus on school though. We've got some finals coming up in not a too long time and I'm contemplating wether I should start studying soon or not.
In other news... The Hunger Games comes out on Thursday! We were a couple of girls who were supposed to go to the premiere but one girl couldn't make it that day so we have to go next Monday instead. I'm a little disappointed because I really wanted to go to the premiere but whatever. I hope the movie won't disappoint!
Okay, so sometimes I get paranoid. Very paranoid. I mean, this blog is on the internet which means that anyone in the world can read it. Even though I'm not that personal on here I still post some pictures and write about my life. Sometimes I think, what if someone I know irl finds my blog? What if my parents read it? What if there's some creep or stalker who comes here? I know that the chance is very small, but still, what if. There really wouldn't be any problem if someone from school or something finds my blog, it's just that I like for it to be a secret. As much as I like you guys, most of you really don't know anything about me and that feels good. It feels like I can write more freely because of that, not sure why. Anyways, what I wanted to say was, that if my blog suddenly is down or anything it's probably because I've gotten too paranoid and deleted it. It probably won't happen though.
I hope you guys had a good day today. It was my first day in school (since the break, that is) and my day didn't start out very nice but it ended up quite good, so I'm happy :)
